Ambassador Andrii Deshchytsia was appointed Special Representative for Conflicts by the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office for 2013.

Prior to his nomination, Deshchytsia served as Ambassador of Ukraine to Finland and Iceland.

He graduated from the History Department of Lviv University. In 1995, he received a master’s degree in History and Classics from the University of Alberta (Canada) and a PhD in Political Science from Lviv University.

Deshchytsia started his diplomatic career 1996, serving in different positions in Ukrainian diplomatic missions in Poland, Finland, and Iceland; as Senior Programme Officer at the Poland-America-Ukraine Co-operation Initiative; and as Spokesperson at the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine.
