OSCE Conference in Tirana to focus on tolerance and non-discrimination
VIENNA, 17 May 2013 – Promoting tolerance and non-discrimination is focus of the OSCE High-Level Conference to take place in Tirana from 21 to 22 May, 2013.
The Conference organized by the Ukrainian Chairmanship of the OSCE and hosted by the Government of Albania will look at the implementation of the existing commitments on combating manifestations of discrimination and intolerance, including preventing and responding to hate crimes. Furthermore, it will strive to highlight the powerful role of human rights youth education in promoting mutual understanding and respect for diversity, which belongs to the Ukrainian Chairmanship’s priorities.
Yevhen Sulima, First Deputy Minister of Education and Science, Youth and Sports of Ukraine, and Sali Berisha, Prime Minister of Albania will open the Conference.
Journalists are invited to the opening session of the conference scheduled for 9:00 on Tuesday, 21 May, at the Sheraton Hotel & Towers in Tirana, and to the closing press conference in the afternoon of 22 May.
