OSCE Centre in Bishkek supports victims of the Dacha-Suu plane crash
The OSCE Centre in Bishkek, with €20,000 donated from the proceeds of the OSCE Charity Ball 2017, launched a project on 15 February 2017 to provide lasting psycho-social relief and assistance to victims of January’s Dacha-Suu plane crash on the outskirts of the Kyrgyz capital. The project is being implemented jointly with the Kyrgyzstan-based Child Rights Defenders League and the National Red Crescent Society of the Kyrgyz Republic.
“The wounds of Dacha-Suu cannot be healed overnight. Those affected by the tragedy deserve our lasting support, not only now but in the times to come,” said Pierre von Arx, the Head of the OSCE Centre in Bishkek. “We are committed to supporting the efforts to provide the psychological support and social opportunities that victims need to begin rebuilding their lives. In parallel, we are reinforcing the capacity of Kyrgyzstan to deal with post-traumatic rehabilitation.”
The OSCE Centre in Bishkek will support its partners to provide psycho-social services and recreational opportunities through 2017 for all children and adults directly affected by the tragedy. The project activities are based on a needs assessment conducted by the National Red Crescent Society of the Kyrgyz Republic immediately following the crash of a cargo jet into Dacha-Suu village on 16 January.
