OSCE opens training centre to improve the quality of environmental monitoring in Kyrgyzstan
OSH, Kyrgyzstan, 3 October 2016 – The OSCE Centre in Bishkek supported the opening of a training centre in Osh with the aim of increasing the capacity of state and public inspectors of the State Inspectorate of Environmental and Technical Safety (SIETS) and the State Agency for Environmental Protection and Forestry (SAEPF).
The centre is supplied with necessary equipment for organizing full-scale training activities for SIETS and SAEPF specialists and employees of the Aarhus Centre in Osh. Experts of the training centre in co-operation with the SIETS staff will train the freelance inspectors on the provision of environmental and technical safety.
“The training сentre in Osh will improve the quality of environmental monitoring in the region and will allow for the establishment of closer co-operation with the local Aarhus Centre,” said Dmitry Prudtskikh, Environmental Officer at the OSCE Centre in Bishkek.
Medetbek Mametov, Head of the SIETS Osh regional department, noted that the opening of the centre will allow the SIETS to increase the material and technical capacity of the regional department and the professional skills of its personnel.
The event was organized as part of the OSCE Centre's project on promoting environmental security through dialogue and enhanced disaster risk reduction in Kyrgyzstan.
