OSCE supports course for Kyrgyz police officers on fighting organized crime
A course for ten frontline Kyrgyz police officers on intelligence and investigation techniques in fighting organized crime ended on 19 April 2014 in Turkey.
The 13-day-long training course, organized by the OSCE Centre in Bishkek and Turkish Embassy in Kyrgyzstan, took place at the Turkish International Academy against Drugs and Organized Crime in Ankara.
The participants in the course learned about systematic organized crime investigations and investigation strategy and attended lectures on the operation planning process and management. They also underwent practical training on surveillance and methodology of taking statements from witnesses.
Victor Sotchi, Head of the Police Reform Programme at the OSCE Centre in Bishkek, said: “The Turkish International Academy against Drugs and Organized Crime is a renowned international institution offering study courses for police representatives from more than 80 countries. I believe that Kyrgyz participants had a chance to learn from international best practice and will apply acquired skills to conduct crime investigations at the national level.”
