OSCE Centre in Bishkek
Conflict prevention and resolution
To alleviate tensions among communities living in southern Kyrgyzstan, which in the past have given rise to violent clashes, the Centre is involved in several conflict prevention and resolution initiatives. It supports a nationwide public-private mediation network consisting of community leaders, elders, religious figures, and local officials, and promotes inter-ethnic tolerance among young people through a nation-wide group of youth councils. The Centre also works with the Prime Minister’s office on ways to establish a centralized situation room to respond swiftly to crises.
