OSCE, Kyrgyzstan’s Border Service support early-warning groups in cross-border areas
The OSCE Centre in Bishkek organized a meeting on 22 May 2013 in Ala-Buka town, that focused on the planned activities for a pilot early-warning group, supervised by the State Border Service, in the Ala-Buka district of the Jalal-Abad district of Kyrgyzstan. The group was set up to promote inter-agency co-ordination and public outreach on issues related to cross-border co-operation and co-ordination and the delimitation of disputed border areas with neighbouring countries in the Fergana Valley.
The meeting was part of a long-term project launched by the OSCE Centre in 2011 to establish early-warning and conflict-prevention mechanisms, supervised by the State Border Service in the Fergana Valley border areas in Kyrgyzstan and in the Osh and Jalal-Abad provinces.
