OSCE helps train Kazakhstan’s international election observers

On 29 November 2012, representatives of the OSCE Centre in Astana and the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights spoke at a training seminar on international election observers’ rights and responsibilities organized by Kazakhstan’s Central Election Commission.

The event brought together more than 35 participants from government and non-governmental organizations who have served as international observers, or would like to do so in the future. The seminar aims to provide them with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively serve as international election observers. Participants learned about international and national legal norms regulating international elections observers’ rights and responsibilities, and the experience of their fellow citizens who participated in election observation missions this year.

The participation in this event is part of the OSCE’s efforts to contribute to national training for international election observers.  Similar seminars have been organized for citizens of Kazakhstan every year since 2006.
