The OSCE Programme Office in Astana will support an extended expert group meeting on promoting Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) for some 40 representatives of government, private sector, non-governmental organizations and academia. The participants will analyse the social investments in the region, explore ways to involve civil society in environmental decision-making and identify opportunities for better access to environmental information. The meeting aims to enhance interaction between the government, civil society and business representatives on EITI implementation and draft an action plan.
The project is an important part of the Office’s multi-year efforts to advance international standards of the Aarhus Convention in the host country.
