OSCE Programme Office launches series of training seminars on National Preventive Mechanism Implementation in Kazakhstan

This training seminar in Pavlodar will be the first in a series of four training events for members of the National Preventive Mechanism (NPM) against torture and ill-treatment aimed at increasing their capacity for a transparent and effective NPM.
The event will address methodological, strategic and ethical issues, as well as improving the temporary working procedures of the NPM.
Participants will study reporting methodology and topics related to handling and addressing any functional difficulties during preventive visits, as well as an overview of key challenges in fulfilling human rights monitoring in places of detention. The training seminar in Pavlodar will be followed by similar events in Almaty (South Kazakhstan), Aktobe (West Kazakhstan) and Astana.
The series of training events aims to support the implementation of the Optional Protocol to the UN Convention against torture in Kazakhstan.
