The seminar is the third in a series of 2015 activities aimed at strengthening the capacity of law-enforcement officers and legal community, including defence lawyers, to effectively function in the realities of newly adopted Criminal Procedure Code. The seminar will provide defence lawyers an opportunity to acquire a deeper understanding of criminal procedure legislation through learning rules of plea bargaining. The event participants will discuss the issues regarding the terms and conditions for plea bargaining, trial procedures for this category of cases, the rights of accused persons and victims in the applying of plea bargaining, as well as enhancing defence lawyers’ knowledge and skills on newly introduced criminal procedure rules and standards.
In accordance with its long-standing programmatic activities in the sphere of rule of law reforms, the OSCE Programme Office in Astana facilitated the participation of national experts and representatives of non-governmental organizations.
