This two-day training course will bring together over 50 judges dealing with environmental matters from Karaganda, Akmola, Kostanay, Pavlodar, North-Kazakhstan oblasts and Astana.
The training seminar will be conducted by an international expert - member of European Ecoforum and national lawyer, and environmentalists from civil society organizations.
Trainers will review national legislation on three pillars of the convention and present international best practices in examination of cases on environmental matters. Judges will be tasked to solve a number of practical exercises.
The purpose of the event is to help consolidate the implementation of the Aarhus Convention and build co-operation among all interested stakeholders. It will bring added value to the Centre’s previous undertakings aiming to bridge the existing gaps in the national institutional and legal frameworks on the Aarhus Convention.
The Centre in Astana facilitates the event by providing the participation of international and national experts.
