In July 1998, the Permanent Council of the OSCE decided to establish a permanent OSCE presence in Ashgabat in order to intensify co-operation between Turkmenistan and the OSCE. In January 1999, the OSCE Centre in Ashgabat commenced its activities.

ASHGABAT, 17 December 2009 - The winners of the photo contest launched by the OSCE Centre in Ashgabat to celebrate its tenth anniversary were announced today, with the first prize awarded to Igor Lomov for his photo "Twin souls".
