OSCE Centre in Ashgabad

ASHGABAD, 25 April 2008 - Commercial diplomacy and trade policy in Turkmenistan are the focus of a training course organized by the OSCE Centre in co-operation with the Foreign Ministry, that ends tomorrow in Ashgabad.

The one-week course brought together representatives from the Finance Ministry, the Ministry of Economy and Development, the Ministry of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations, the Foreign Ministry and the Chamber of Industry and Commerce.

The training course is delivered by two experts from the United Kingdom and Ukraine. The course seeks to provide technical expertise in formulating trade policy, appraisal of negotiation skills and drafting trade agreements, and to enhance the capacity of future negotiators of the country through honing of skills and techniques for conducting successful trade negotiations.

"I am very pleased to see a high level of enthusiasm among the young professionals at this workshop and their willingness to play an important role in their country's future in conducting international commercial and trade negotiations," said Kamala Dawar, the U.K. expert delivering the training.

The training comprised presentations, interactive group discussions and a case simulation, followed by a debriefing.
