Projects currently being implemented by the Presence:
Goal: Provide assistance to the Albanian State Police to strengthen relations between the Albanian State Police as the main law enforcement agency, and civil society, other state institutions and minority groups, and to improve Police response in the area of crowd control.
Goal: Assist the Border and Migration Police to become a more effective Law Enforcement Agency through improving and strengthening mutual trust and co-operation between the police in the region.
Goal: Assist in the establishment of an effective Electronic Offender Monitoring Programme, through the completion of a Needs Assessment and Strategy document.
Goal: To assist the Immovable Properties Restitution Service in guaranteeing the status of properties located along Albania's southern coast (included in the project's first registration activities) and to assist the Government in creating a national uniform address registration system. Donors: European Commission, Czech Republic, Greece, Switzerland, United States.
Goal: Support the High Inspectorate of Declaration of Assets and Audits in strengthening its efforts in preventing and fighting corruption and promoting good governance values. Donor: Luxembourg.
Goal: Upgrade the role of the Regional Anti-Trafficking Committees in preventing human trafficking and exploitation and in providing protection to trafficked persons.
Goal: To support the local government units of the Vjosa Valley in developing local waste plans through environmental education and environmental governance.
Goal: To strengthen the capacities of state institutions to preventing corruption.
Goal: To improve the IT infrastructure and data management capacity of the Property Restitution and Compensation Agency.
Goal: To strengthen independent media and media institutions, cultivating responsible media freedom and supporting good journalistic practice. Donors: Switzerland, Press Now.
Goal: To assist the National Council of Radio and Television in drafting a national regulatory strategy of the radio and television sector as part of the audio-visual developments in Albania. Donor: Austria.
Goal: To increase the active participation of women in electoral processes and fight the practice of family voting; increase the capacity of elected female officials and other women pursuing public leadership to advocate for themselves and become a lobbying force, thereby making public authorities more responsive and accountable to women's needs/rights; provide for networking opportunities for women leaders in politics, public administration, civil society and NGOs. Donors: The Netherlands, Swedish International Development Agency.
Goal: Support the Assembly in continuing to achieve its own goals to: become a more effective, professional, transparent and a more responsive institution. Donors: Austria, Austrian Development Agency, Germany.
Goal: To strengthen the capacities of the National Council of People with Disabilities.
Goal: To raise the level of professionalism in election reporting, through an improved knowledge of the election process among the reporters covering election affairs.
Goal: To further strengthen the gender equality mechanism at the central level.
Goal: Promote active citizenship through the educational system.
Goal: Provide Albanian judicial system with professional training in the area of child protection and to ensure that minors will be treated according to international standards, including the Convention on the Rights of the Child; Improved cooperation between various child protection actors Donor: France, Finland.
Goal: To increase the knowledge and skills of probation officers and develop a uniform and effective probation practice throughout Albania.
Goal: Analysis and recommendations to improve the civil justice system in Albania are provided to the Albanian justice sector at large.
Goal: Improve implementation of Civil Service legislation.
Goal: Knowledge of probation officers as well as of social workers on probation issues is increased and co-operation among actors in the probation system is improved.
